name's baphomet. I'm not here anymore. i still get notification emails, so you can DM me if you want to keep up.

i joined aethy in 2023 because i wanted a kodocon-friendly space to discuss the non-photorealistic and/or textual content I created using genAI; baraag didn't want "AI artists" to join, which i understood.

in keeping with aethy's former guidelines, i specified the models and tooling used in the CWs of my posts, and no post with any relation to AI whatsoever went without a CW. I found a few people I vibed with, and appreciated having the space.

these people were individually run off the platform for various reasons, and i'll probably never see any of them again. i went on hiatus in about mid-2024.

between then and now, aethy changed their guidelines to prohibit any and all AI-generated content, or "promotion of" said content or "services for generating it", including non-photorealistic content, including even text, with an exception carved out for the fraudulent Glaze and Nightshade tools.

if the ban were about legal compliance, i'd understand; but very clearly, this is morally motivated. i had to remove most of the posts i'd made, many of which were made with the intention of getting people away from the profiteering tech industry and into the open-source scene (something Aethy's rules now make impossible, closing off a route for harm reduction.)

i've been made completely redundant in a community which, at the time i joined, welcomed me with open arms, and i had no say in it. there's no longer any reason for me to be here.

so. there's not really much more to it than that.
